MADE FOR THE BENCH

Help with your workshop tools.

Free fabrication calculations and local workshop records from TDB Fabrication Ltd.

Get help or report a problem

Email info@tdbfab.co.uk with your tool name, app version, phone or computer type, and a description of the problem. For a calculation issue, include non-confidential inputs and the result you expected. Do not send passwords or a full backup unless it is necessary.

Store and app accounts

Use Sign in / register in navigation for the app account screen and a link to your store account. These accounts are separate. App registration becomes available when the account service and confirmation emails are connected. Account confirmation and password-reset links open the web app; return to your phone app and sign in after completing them. Signing in does not synchronise workshop records.

Favourites and machine notes

Open any tool and choose ☆ Add favourite. Find it in Favourites and Quick access. The Machine logbook stores equipment details and your dated maintenance, fault and settings notes on this device. Full backups include both the logbook and favourite selections.

Welder models and setup references

In Welding calculator or Flux-cored welding, choose a brand, exact model and actual mains supply. The selected profile checks documented processes, current ranges, pulse and control availability. A source chart from another machine remains labelled as a reference; manual entries mean the exact control or range has not been verified. Model names, input variants, panels, wire and accessories matter.

Upload a drawing for nesting

Choose CAD sheet nesting, upload an ASCII DXF with closed planar outlines, check the drawing units and part preview, then enter quantities, allowed rotations, sheet size, edge margin and finished-part separation. Unsupported geometry is rejected. Only opt into ignoring STOCK, BEND and LAYOUT layers when they contain reference geometry and finished cuts are on other layers. Exports preserve supported source curves and holes; the STOCK outline is a reference layer, not a cut. Set kerf, leads, tabs and cut order in your CAM software.

Uploaded drawings and proposed plans stay in the current page memory and are not in full backups. Download DXF and CSV before leaving. Nesting compares bounded heuristic layouts and does not guarantee the optimum. A complete current plan can send its entered sheet material cost to Job costing; review labour, delivery, markup and VAT there.

Find stock for a job

Record your offcuts first, then choose Find stock for a job. Enter the required parts and confirm the selected material, grade, condition and section compatibility. The plan uses actual recorded quantities and leaves the offcut inventory unchanged. Reconcile physical stock after cutting.

Move your records to another device

  1. Choose Export full backup in navigation.
  2. Save the JSON file somewhere you control. It includes local records and attached files when available.
  3. On the destination device, choose Import backup and select that JSON file.
  4. Import replaces the destination's existing dataset after confirmation. Export a backup from that device first if you need its existing work.

There is no automatic synchronisation. A calculation link shares inputs; it does not move job histories or attachments.

Files and PDF

CSV opens in spreadsheet software. DXF uses millimetres and opens in compatible CAD/CAM software. Print / save PDF uses your browser or native print dialog. The native phone edition presents the phone's file-sharing or printing controls so you can choose where to save.

Install and offline use

Follow the home-screen installation instructions. Open the web app while online first and let it finish downloading. External references still need internet access. Native store editions bundle the app files.

Use results responsibly

Check dimensions, units, material properties and assumptions shown with each tool. Nesting and stock-cutting plans use heuristics. Beam and bending results need competent verification for the actual job. Welding guides do not approve a welding procedure. RAMS and hot-work permits are editable drafts that need responsible review and authorisation.

Missing saved work

Use the same browser or app where you saved it. An embedded website, standalone web app and native app may each have separate storage. Clearing browser data, private browsing or removing an app can remove records. Restore from your own full backup if you have one.
